A Strong Community Needs Quality Educational Facilities

Measure 3A calls for a $4.3 million bond that funds the replacement of a deteriorating community asset. This bond can be accomplished by extending the district’s existing bond fund levy with no increase in property taxes. If you support Measure 3 please contact us and let us know why; we may put your endorsement on this page.

Hey Bill-

Thanks for forwarding the info on The "new" Tiger Field, I don't know if you meant to send it to us, but I am glad you did. Just to let you know I think the plans and ideas for the new site are excellent. Just to let you know I remember back when we still lived in Alamosa and we went to a football game at Tiger Field, when Dad was working there, of course Alamosa was playing, anywhoooo the point I am trying to get out is that back then I remember going into the field and just being in awe because of the immenities that they had and how impressive they were. Stressing were. Looking at all the pictures now, it is a total embarassment to have anyone, even having the athletes have to practice there, go there. Those pictures are amazing and eye opening. I hope the people of the city see all of them and realize how pitiful it really is. A coat of paint is not going to fix the problems there.

Take it easy.
Love, Cat

It is my intent to vote “YES” for 3A. I believe that it is essential for this to pass for the economic health of our community. …

The only issue that needs the voter attention is what does all of this mean to my pocketbook? My response to this is I can handle it since I think the alternative is not acceptable…

I believe it is in our best interest to vote YES on 3A and would encourage you to do the same. THANK YOU!

Dan Noller
Former City Manager, La Junta

There is a time in every town that everyone must step forward and do what is best for the community. We are now approaching one of those projects. The best result for the entire community will be the passage of 3A and the building of the new facility.

This project will benefit all of us. Naturally, as an educational facility and sports complex it will benefit the youth of La Junta. It will be made available for adult use for health and fitness. Equally as important is what it will say about La Junta, and its residents, to people thinking of coming to the community. Our economic development people are working hard to bring jobs to the area. The Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center is always recruiting health care professionals, the school district must attract teachers every year, Otero Junior College brings educators and students to the area and retail outlets are looking for new markets. All of this can be accomplished without raising taxes.

As businesses and individuals view our town they judge us on how much pride we have in our own community and what we are willing to do to make this a better place now and in the future. A giant step toward success will be to pass 3A. It is time for all of us to join together and do just that.
